"Poetry Break!" . . .
Several years ago, on my original blog, Mrs. Merrill's Book Break, I explained and featured my "Poetry Breaks!" If you are interested in reading about them, various ways in which I conduct them, and the impact of a "Poetry Break," click here to read more.
Today, I'd like to share my latest YouTube video, in which I explain a "Poetry Break."
I am no longer working as a reading specialist and school librarian. I had to retire early due to a health issue. I really miss sharing my weekly "Poetry Breaks" and am hoping to be able to share them again via YouTube. Thank you for stopping by and reading and watching. :)
Welcome to Poetry Friday! Today's poetry fun, round up, is being hosted by Bridget at Wee Words for Wee Ones! Be sure to stop over to her blog for the round up!
I'm sorry you had to retire early. So many have. And, we are sure missing all the talent this year as school is not quite back to normal. Best of luck with your Poetry Friday adventures! You are off to a great start.
ReplyDeleteI love the idea of "Poetry Breaks"! I look forward to reading more about your adventures with poetry.
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful way to continue sharing your love of poetry with others. Thanks for sharing it with us today.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your experiences with "Poetry Breaks", Amy! I look forward to taking many 'breaks' with you on your journey. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's great that you are finding a new way to keep poetry in your life, Amy. I'm sorry about the early retirement. The Pandemic has changed so many lives. Best wishes on this new journey!
ReplyDeleteOh, Amy, I did not realize you had retired ! I know they will miss your wonderful spirit and I am glad you are sharing your "Poetry Break" ideas and poems here, now. We truly are kindred souls in our love of things poetic and you know how much your friendship and kindness from the first time we met at NYSRA so many years ago has meant to me. PS Your Halloween tree is lovely and I enjoyed seeing you and hearing you explain how you use/d poetry with your students.

Amy, thanks for the inspiration to share poems with a single child or group of children. In my position as a tutor and volunteer reading specialist, I believe I will have lots of opportunities to share a poem with one child. I'm taking your challenge seriously.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your enthusiasm for poetry and your idea of Poetry Breaks. I look forward to following along each Friday!
ReplyDeletePoetry Breaks are such a great idea!
ReplyDeleteLove Poetry Breaks!💕
ReplyDeletePoetry Breaks are the best. I hope you visit every Friday at Poetry Friday.
ReplyDeleteI am sure your students loved your poetry breaks, Amy. Thanks for sharing.
